Char-lie handed in his dime at the Kendall Square Station,

Got a train for Ja-maic-a Plains.__   When he got there the conductor told him One more nickel!

Char-lie could-n’t get off  that train

Now ALL NIGHT LONG  Char-lie rides through the the sta-tion

Crying, “What will be-come of me?____ How can I af-ford to see my sist-er in Chel-sea

or my cous-in in Rox-bur-y?____”

Char-lie’s wife goes down  …       to the Kend-al Square Station

Every day at quarter past two.__     And through the op-en window she hands

Char-lie a sand-wich   as the     train goes rum – blin’ through

Now, ye cit-i-zens of Bost – on, don’t you think it’s a scand – al

How the people have to pay and pay.___     Fight the fare in-crease
